Tim Graham really cool to hear a Cenotaphs B-side all this time later. it really highlights how Avery's sound has developed in the last decade. (decade??? how old am i? why haven't i watched madoka magica yet?)

about

intended for a little album i put out ten years ago today, this song was written and demo’d in late 2013, but the pieces just never fell into place; it was tucked lovingly away into the recesses of my mind and macbook hard drive, until nostalgia and completionism compelled me to unearth it last month. working on it has been a joyous communion with my overambitious mess of a 20yo self - a beautiful and ordinary kind of time travel.

lyrics

you're the last thing i see
before drifting off to sleep
it's true: i'm thinking 'bout you
a lot more often than i'd like
no, i can't correct my mind
once it's decided

but then you disappear again
another suicide mission

in a dream you said it'd all be okay
and then we died our separate ways

you're the last thing i see
before drifting off to sleep
and then: there are you again
our hands resume their idle chase
i wonder just how many days
i have until you leave

until you disappear again
another suicide mission

just tell me what you're hiding
i can see you need arms to cry in

in a dream we kissed in a dimly lit apartment
and time became irrelevant
and stars collided somewhere
a glimmer of hope in a kaleidoscope
i won't forget this moment
though it may need some coaxing

so please, please
be patient with me
and i will try to be patient with you
please, please...
